WanderSquares: The Underwood Tunnels

WanderSquares is a fantasy table-top roleplaying game for adventurers 9 and up. It features an ever-changing map, a choose-your-path adventure guide and 16 inspiring characters to choose from.

An Ever-changing Map

The WanderSquares map is made up of 32 interlocking Adventure Squares. Each square is a tiny story; with monsters, puzzles and treasure. The map grows in endless combinations with each new direction the players choose. Three Special Squares contain major magic items (and mini-bosses). Recover the treasure and you'll unlock the final challenge.

Search for Hidden Treasure

Explore each square to uncover Treasure Cards. You’ll find powerful potions, special weapons, useful gear and magical creatures that will help you in your quest.

The Adventure Guide

Each square of the map has a matching page in the choose-your-path Adventure Guide that describes the scene and the actions the players can take. Once the players choose an action, turn the page to see what happens next.

Be the Storyteller

One player becomes the Storyteller, taking the other players through the adventure. The Storyteller lays out the map, narrates the story and guides the action. They play the part of all the creatures & monsters the players encounter; giving out clues and rolling the dice in battle. 

Join the Wanderkind

The other players join the Wanderkind, a secret order of adventurers who roam the known worlds seeking mysteries and fighting for justice. They can choose from 4 classes and 4 kinds. Play as a brave knight, a powerful wizard, a clever trickster or a quick-footed scout. For your kind, choose human, gnome, elf or faerie. Each character comes with its own special abilities and magical spells. Characters earn experience through every encounter and learn new spells when they level-up. 

Into the Winding Wood

Your first mission takes place on the forest world of Undwen, in the Winding Wood. Something is stealing the trees from the woods above and turning them into terrible monsters. Kordwenna, the Last TreeSinger guides you to the entrance of the Underwood Tunnels.

Your Quest

Three sacred magical items have been stolen: The Branch Harp, the Leaf Notes and the Singing Sap. Without them no new trees will grow in the Winding Wood. You have to delve into the Underwood Tunnels, solve the mystery and save the trees.

Matthew Carlson is a design director by day and game designer at night. He grew up playing every table-top RPG he could get his hands on. He created WanderSquares to help get his kids into roleplaying and game design. Also because he wanted an excuse to draw maps and doodle monsters all day.
